Hiwassee Roasted Coffee began with a simple belief: great coffee doesn’t have to come from a big city or a massive warehouse—it can come from right here.
Tucked away in the hills of East Tennessee, Hiwassee Roasted Coffee is a small, cottage food coffee roastery built on intention, patience, and respect for the craft. Every batch is roasted by hand in small quantities, allowing each coffee to be treated not as a commodity, but as an experience.
We focus on thoughtfully sourced coffees from Colombia and Guatemala, regions known for balance, sweetness, and depth. These coffees are chosen because they’re approachable yet complex—the kind you look forward to brewing in the quiet moments of your day. No over-roasting. No shortcuts. Just careful roasting designed to highlight what the coffee already has to offer.
As a cottage food business, we’re intentionally small. That means no mass production, no bloated inventories, and no chasing trends. It means freshness matters. It means consistency matters. And it means every bag has been handled by someone who actually drinks the coffee inside it.

Our Roasting Process
We use an Artisan 3e fluid bed roaster. A fluid bed roaster forces hot air into the hopper through the beans. The flow of hot air heats the coffee beans and provides a constant movement throughout the bean bed.
This process ensures that the coffee beans are only in contact with the hot air during the roast, producing a clean smooth tasting coffee.
